A：To give you some basic information, Korea has a population of just over 50 million people. More than half of this population lives in and around the Seoul area.
B：Why do so many people live in the northwest?
A：As the Korean economy improved, many people left the countryside and smaller towns in search of better education and better jobs, which are usually found in the bigger cities. This population drift, especially for young people, is a continuing trend. This trend is now raising concerns about who will look after the farms and produce food in the future.

There are many ruins that still exist, but a really interesting place to visit in relation to the Joseon Dynasty is Hwaseong Fortress, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site near Suwon in Gyeonggi-do. This is one of the best examples of a fortress anywhere in Korea and has been well restored and looked after. The walls of the fortress ⓑrun more than 5.5 km and include many interesting military features that are hard to find anywhere else. ⓒAs well as the many interesting things to see, you can also enjoy activities such as shooting arrows using the traditional Korean bow. It is relatively easy to get there by subway and bus.

B：What do I need to know about eating at a Korean restaurant?
A：There are a few differences between ordering and dining at a traditional Korean restaurant versus a Western restaurant or even some other Asian style restaurants. First, when you enter a Korean restaurant, it is not uncommon to remove your shoes before entering and sitting down. Secondly, it is most likely that you will sit on the floor at a low table. This is especially good in winter as the floor is heated and keeps you ⓐ(            ) and warm while you eat. Thirdly, you will notice that we use a long spoon and narrow metal chopsticks. A：The DMZ is the Demilitarized Zone and the JSA is the Joint Security Area. Because the two countries are still officially at war, there is a neutral area that separates the two countries. In July of 1953, the two sides signed an agreement that stopped the fighting but did not officially end the war. There is a place called (　ⓐ　) where the North and South can meet on neutral ground to discuss important matters. This is where you can see North Korean soldiers and literally stand on the northern side of the border. You will need your passport to be able to visit this venue, so please ⓑkeep that in mind.

A：The most famous one is probably Gyeongbokgung Palace. Built in Seoul during the late 14th century, it was the first main Joseon palace. The buildings you see today are not the originals – the palace was burned to the ground by the Japanese during the invasions of the late 16th century. It wasn't until the 19th century that the palace was rebuilt and these are generally the buildings that you can see today. They have been well preserved and maintained so they make an excellent place to start. These days you can see a reenactment of the royal guard change ceremony, which is quite interesting.
